I'm working on getting better at taking a sabbath every week. Sadly, I've been pretty terrible at taking time for rest and, as can clearly been seen, I've been paying for it this semester.
Why don't we do it more? We tend to take the Ten Commandments fairly seriously. Murdering, stealing, lying, adultery, idolatry, etc. I try to avoid them, and I'd say most of us do. (At least in the pre-sermon on the mount literal sense). But Sabbath just gets swept under the rug. I don't need it. Resting is lazy. I can do more, serve more, love more if I just keep going.
Lies. Sadly, lies that I tend to believe. If God rested and seems to think it's important enough to command it... why don't I?
