Marriage is what brings us together today (in the Princess Bride voice)

Last weekend I got the blessing of being a part of my friend Jim's wedding. It was a blast, but definitely an interesting trip.

I left State College ridiculously early because of all the snow. Figured it wasn't worth risking either accident or being late to the wedding rehearsal. The trip was full of good music, good sermons, and terrible roads. I had two sliding incidents, one kind of funny (trying to make a turn in state college... hitting the brakes... and just continuing down the hill while some kid on the sidewalk laughed at me and I just turned off my turn signal and decided I'd turn at the next one) and one kind of scary (lets not talk about it).

I made it to Willow Grove to pick up my tux an hour and a half early. I get my tux and from there plan to continue on the next 14 miles or so to the church where I can change in the parking lot and do a little preparation on my talk for ACF. But I need to pee. So I randomly stop at this Barnes & Noble, and who should be the first person I see, but the illustrious Katelyn Gray. Unbelievable! So I got to spend a good half an hour catching up with her and hearing about her time in Nepal. Totally awesome.

I left B&N totally stoked for having run into Katelyn only to realize that mentally I'd been thinking 14 minutes, not 14 miles full of stoplights, and so despite being an hour and a half early, I was 5 minutes late.

Rehearsal and dinner were quite fun, particularly since they involved hanging out with boy-Jordan, Chris, and Rachel. Don't get to see them nearly enough. Spending the night with Jordan and Laura was totally awesome too.

The wedding was wonderful. It was sweet to get to support two of my friends. It really was. That's not to say I didn't have a lot of weird thoughts about maybe getting married someday, and maybe not. Or a lot of weird flashbacks to the last wedding I was in that's not ending so well. Dancing was hysterically awesome. Yay for Jim and femaJordan. Yay for boyJordan and Laura. It's sweet to see my friends growing up and finding people and being happy.

BoyJordan and Laura and I had an excellently fun adventure trying to leave the reception. We had been oblivious to the fact that a limo would be taking us from wedding to reception. And our cars were at the church. And we didn't have anyone to take them to the reception. So we asked Papa Mikesell to drive us back at the end of the night and we'd leave our tuxes with him. Let's just say, it probably wouldn't have been good for Papa Mikesell to drive us anywhere, so we ended up getting rides with the brides parents. Of all things to do on your daughter's wedding night.

I then paid $120 to spend 6 hours in a hotel room by myself as I left shortly after 5:30 am to get back for ACF. And since I didn't get to leave my tux with Bob I drove another 2 hours to Altoona and back after ACF to drop it off. Oi.

It was, indeed, awesome. And thanks for still using femaJordan! I figured I'm forever cemented as Jordan number two now.

I am blessed in so many ways. I have a son who has married an absolutly wonderful woman and he did it in the presence and with the support of two childhood friends from Sunday School whom i have always appreciated and admired for their strong and straight character.

Jim is lucky to have such great friends.

Thank you.

Love
Bob
