Regularly Scheduled Programming

You’ll have to forgive me for not posting anything, as I’ve had internet these past few days, but I really have had little to say. Mostly I’ve been sleeping about 14 hours a day. I sincerely tried a few times to come up with something to say, to write one of the stories from last week, or just to put together some thoughts from the first couple weeks, but my brain always proved as tired as my body.

But today… the thermometer said 37.0! After a second with google I confirmed that this was, in fact, normal! No fever! And I feel pretty good, maybe not perfect, but much, much better. I’ve been so sore that walking up and down the stairs has been a bit of an effort, but I’ve been handling them just fine. And I’m eating more and generally have much more energy. Yay!

Tomorrow I’m moving on to Montalban, Rizal, where I should’ve been on Sunday. Once I get there we’ll reassess how I’m feeling and decide how quickly to jump back into interviews. Apparently they were pretty sad that I was sick and couldn’t come, so instead of moving on again on Sunday I’ll be staying there until midweek next week.

So being sick has been a little lame, I must admit, but in a lot of other ways, it has been a real blessing. I got some much needed rest. I got to talk to my family a whole bunch of times, which was wonderful, even if the main topic of conversation was my temperature and fluid intake. I got to catch up on emails (almost). And I caught almost all of the other FH international interns on skype at one point or another, which was a huge encouragement. I even caught a few friends on instant messenger.

Beyond that, it was a good reminder that God is still in control. I don’t have a clue why I should go halfway around the world only to spend 4 days doing nothing, but that’s ok. Really, God’s plans are better than mine, even if I can’t see it.
