Re-Entry

On a side note, I completely plan on continuing to blog throughout the year. Although I will be posting less frequently, I hope you continue to check it out on occasion.

Coming back to Penn State has been wonderful, as I've really enjoyed reconnecting with people and getting caught up on everyone's lives. Getting started with ACF interning, classes, and the Race Relations Project has been sweet, and all of them look to be good. Still, the craziness of trying to move in, buy groceries, pay rent, arrange parking, write thank you letters (not done yet), and figure out schedules for classes, interning, and RRP makes me miss the simplicity of the summer. Not that the Philippines was simple, just that I only had one job to do, my schedule was pretty much set, and I could focus my energy on ministry.

Despite that and other reverse culture shock annoyances, life has been sweet. I mean, honestly, with classes like ballroom dancing and rock climbing, who can complain? And even my demography class is fairly interesting. Interning has been a good mix of fun tasks, doing things I would do anyways, bountiful annoying insane Penn State paperwork, and crazy conversations on theology and life with Matt and Laura, the other interns. And today we had our first RRP class, which was really good.

Trying to explain my summer has been a little less successful. It's just hard to cram two months of intensity into two minutes of explanation. And sadly, more people want to hear about showers and eating blood and rice and aerobics and long flights than about poverty and challenges and development work. Or, harder yet, it's even rarer to get to discuss the things God was revealing to me, challenging me on, and teaching me. Not that I've taken the time with many people to hear about the deeper things God was teaching them over the summer, so I completely understand. More on "deeper thoughts" later.

Hey bro,
I hope that the year goes well. I'll be praying for your ministry at PSU/ACF. And by the way, the stuff that you feel God revealed to you...you should blog about it. I'd love to read it.

P.S. You can talk to me anytime about poverty and how God*s working in your life. Or in the next ten months, write. Sorry we didn*t really get to talk or see each other before I took off. Maybe next summer (I hate that it*s so long off). I*m singing at Jenn Truilo*s wedding in Aug., so I*ll hopefully be somewhere around.
