A Downward Journey Plug

When I first started this journey towards serving others as part of my faith, my friend Jason was one of my first mentors. He worked with me two summers ago in Philadelphia for the Center for Student Missions. Not only was the summer amazing, but Jason taught me a lot about what serving the poor sacrificially really means. He introduced me to the idea of "going to Jesus, outside the camp of our own comfort, bearing His reproach" (Hebrews 13:13).

Jason is currently in Vancouver for a couple years, training and forming/joining a team that will move to Indonesia to live amongst the urban poor in a slum. It's an awesome example of living incarnationally and an awesome testament to the seriousness and intentionality of Jason in living out his faith.

He and another man recently spent a week voluntarily homeless on the streets of Vancouver, and Jason put his journal from the week on his blog. While I've got tons to say about how intense this must've been or how great of an opportunity to love neighbors on equal footing and gain an understanding of their lives, I think it's better if you hear it in Jason's words:

A Downward Journey
