New Home

6/17
I laughed for a solid two minutes once I got to my new host families house and was safely in my room. I have a nice bed. And a desk. And two chairs. And air conditioning! And a TV and a DVD player in my room! Unbelievable. I went from literally living with squatters to living with a family that owns more than 10 times as many DVDs as we do at home. Still rocking the cold bucket shower. This seems to be a Philipino thing more than a ‘we can’t afford a shower’ kind of thing. And the toilet still doesn’t flush on its own, but at least it’s a regular sit down toilet, even if I have to pour a bucket into it to get it to flush. You’d be amazed at how grateful you can be for a toilet that doesn’t flush. I’m working on learning Paul’s secret to being content in all circumstances. How to get along with humble means, and also how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and being hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. Philippians 4:12
